Boards on phones, troubleshooting and FAQ

Using boards on a phone or tablet, fixing common problems, and answers to common questions.

Phones and tablets

  • Boards work in the browser on phones and tablets. The drawing tools move to a bar at the top, and the board menu, undo and redo to a bar at the bottom.
  • Drag with one finger to draw with the current tool. Use the hand to move around, and pinch to zoom.
  • The ? in the top bar opens Help and shortcuts. The sparkle in the top bar opens the AI bar.
  • The Library button on the right holds the sticky notes and templates. Drag one onto the board.
  • Long press something for more options, such as copy, delete and layers.

Troubleshooting

  • The board says Not saved: you may be offline, or the board is over its limit. Check your connection; if the message says the board is too big, move part of it to a new board or remove large images.
  • An image could not be saved: it is over 4 MB, not a PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP or SVG image, or the board already has 200 images.
  • A banner says the board was changed by someone else: see When someone else changed the board in Saving, exporting and sharing boards.
  • The AI could not draw that: describe it differently, name the kind of diagram, and keep it to one diagram. Nothing is charged.
  • Creating with AI is unavailable right now: try again later. Nothing is charged.
  • Explain says Select shapes with text first: the selection has no text. Select notes or shapes with words in them.
  • Keys do nothing: click the board first. Shortcuts do not work while you type in the name, the AI bar or a search box.
  • Everything disappeared: press Shift + 1 to zoom to fit. If you erased it, press Ctrl + Z.
  • The board will not open: reload the page. If it still fails, try again later.
  • A share link shows a page that cannot be found: sharing was turned off or the board was deleted. Ask for a new link.

FAQ

  • Can several people edit at once? Yes, everyone in the workspace can open a board. Changes are not shown live; each save checks for other changes and offers to reload theirs or keep yours.
  • Can someone outside my workspace edit a board? No. A share link is read-only.
  • Do boards use credits? Drawing, templates, saving, exporting and sharing are free. Only Create with AI and Explain use credits.
  • Is there a limit on boards? Up to 500 boards in a workspace, 4 MB of drawing and 200 images a board.
  • Where is my own library kept? Items you add to Your library stay in the browser you added them in.
  • Can I get a deleted board back? No. Export a board file first if you might need it again.
  • Can I open a board file from someone else? Yes: board menu, Open a board file. It is added beside your drawing.
  • Can I change the background? Boards use a light canvas with a dot grid. Ctrl + ' shows a square grid instead.
  • Can I present a board? Yes: Alt + Z hides the drawing controls, and the laser pointer (K) helps you point while you talk.
